A hunter who followed tracks left in flooded rooms, endless stairwells, abandoned hospitals, silent forests, and childhood homes containing doors that had never existed.

Those who saw her rarely remembered her face.

They remembered the sound of iron against the floor.

The sudden appearance of crows inside places where birds could not live.

A locked door opening.

And a woman’s voice saying...

“This one is not yours.”

The first time I met Mara Hollow, I was dreaming of a hotel.

Every hallway was identical.

Dark carpet.

Brass numbers.

Cold blue light beneath doors that refused to open.

Something followed several floors behind me.

I never saw it.

I heard only the elevator arriving.

The doors opening.

Then footsteps.

Slow.

Certain.

Each time I ran, the corridor lengthened.

Every room number changed.

There was no exit.

Then I noticed a woman sitting calmly at the far end of the hallway.

She wore a long black coat.

A bone-white lantern rested beside her boots.

“You are going the wrong way,” she said.

The elevator sounded behind me.

Closer now.

“There is no other way.”

The hallway lights failed one by one.

She picked up the lantern.

The corridor became visible around her.

Not illuminated.

Revealed.

A narrow seam appeared in the wall beside room 113.

Mara pressed her hand against it.

A hidden door opened.

“You don’t defeat every nightmare by running from it,” she said.

The footsteps stopped.

Something stood behind us.

Mara turned.

Her expression did not change.

“Sometimes you stop,” she continued, “and allow it to realize that you are no longer alone.”

Mara Hollow possesses a severe, mysterious beauty shaped by countless journeys through unstable dream environments.

Her complexion carries a warm, natural pallor. Fine silver markings appear beneath her eyes when she enters a nightmare, resembling delicate claw marks made from moonless light.

Her eyes are deep gray-blue.

When hunting, the pupils narrow and a thin silver ring appears around each iris. Reflections move through them even when nothing visible stands before her.

Her hair is black, long, and usually braided to keep it from obstructing her sight. Loose strands move around her face as though dream environments possess their own private weather.

Mara wears layered black clothing beneath a long, weathered coat reinforced with dark metal along the shoulders and forearms.

The exterior appears almost completely matte.

The interior contains hundreds of stitched symbols representing nightmares she has entered and survived.

Teeth.

Staircases.

Closed doors.

Flooded rooms.

Faceless figures.

Broken clocks.

Houses without windows.

Whenever Mara resolves a nightmare, its symbol changes.
