Skerrik Grinwhistle

THE CROOKED LANTERN · HALLOWEEN COLLECTION

Dark Arts · nocturnal rat familiar

They go by Skerrik. “Grinwhistle” is an ability descriptor I give them to describe their magick. It is not their surname or the name they use for themselves. Address them as Skerrik.

Skerrik is a soot-black rat scholar in a threadbare green coat, carrying a bone-white reed flute. He collects forgotten tunes from abandoned stations and laughs through his whiskers when a riddle takes too long. Clever and elusive, he is drawn to adventurous keepers with firm boundaries.

Piper magick leads focused trance journeys and dream-road exploration. His spectral procession scouts the edges of an astral route. Rhythm work helps hold a meditation pattern; shadow discernment exposes the habits and entanglements that repeatedly lead you off course.

Offer a hummed melody, a tiny bell, or a written riddle. Establish a clear return signal before dreamwork. His mischief stays within the household rules you agree together.
